Terms and Conditions

  1. These terms and conditions (“T&Cs”) provide information in relation to your entry of a story to University of Glasgow's 575 Share Your Story and prize draw. 
  2. The prize draw is open to people aged 18 years or over.
  3. The prize draw is free to enter and no purchase is necessary
  4. All entries must be submitted via by email to uofg575gla.systa-s.com and only one entry per story.
  5. The University will not accept entries that are automatically generated by computer or created by artificial intelligence (including but not limited to chatbots such as ChatGPT or similar software applications)
  6. You agree that you have the right to submit the image to our campaign
  7. Where the images contain any third parties, those third parties have consented to their image being used and shared
  8. You consent to us reproducing the images you send us, at the very least for promotional purposes. And if selected, chosen to be stored in the University of Glasgow Archives
  9. You agree that the University may, in their sole discretion, make your entry available on its website gla.systa-s.com, and subsequent webpages, and in any other media, whether now known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the competition. You grant the University a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence in perpetuity, for the full period of the intellectual property rights in the competition entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-license the intellectual property rights in the competition entry and any accompanying materials for such purposes.
  10. The opening date for entries is 09.00 on 31/03/2026. The closing date of the prize draw is 23:59 on 02/11/2026. Entries received after this time will not be counted.
  11. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed due to a technical fault technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.
  12. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges on 9/11/2026 ("Draw Date"). This will be decided by the criteria “best story” as decided by the panel of judges.
  13. The winners will receive a UofG Goodie Bag which will include merchandise provided by the University of Glasgow.
  14. The winners will be notified by email (using details provided at entry) before 16/11/2026 and must provide a postal address to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond to the Promoter within 7 days of being notified by the Promoter, then the winner's prize will be forfeited and the Promoter will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above.
  15. The prize will be sent to the winner by post within 14 days of sharing their postal address.
  16. The prize for the winner is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.
  17. The prize is supplied by The University of Glasgow (the "Supplier"). The Promoter reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter's control makes it necessary to do so.
  18. The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
  19. The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation, the Promoter will send the surname and county of major prize winners and, if applicable, copies of their winning entries, to anyone who emails uofg575@gla.systa-s.com within one month after the closing date stated in condition 4. If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact the Promoter uofg575@gla.systa-s.com In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
  20. Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
  21. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so.
  22. Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
  23. Personal data supplied during the course of this promotion will only be processed as set out in the Promoter's Privacy Policy. See also condition 13 with regard to the announcement of winners.
  24. These terms and conditions and this promotion are governed by Law of Scotland. If any entrants to this promotion wish to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts of Scotland

The Promoter of this prize draw is “THE UNIVERSITY COURT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW, incorporated under the Universities (Scotland) Act 1889 and having its principal office at University Avenue, Glasgow, G12 8QQ, a registered Scottish charity in terms of Section 13 (2) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 (Charity Number SC004401, Charity Name 'University of Glasgow Court')”.
