Scams & Fraud Advice – SRC Advice Centre
Published: 18 January 2026
The SRC Advice Centre has launched a new online scams & fraud advice resource to help students recognise, avoid, and respond to scams. With scams becoming increasingly sophisticated, students are being targeted through housing, tuition fee payments, visas, online phishing and bank transfers.

The new web page brings together clear guidance on common scam types, practical steps to take if something goes wrong, and routes to further support. It reflects the real issues students contact the Advice Centre about every week and is designed to provide reassurance as well as clear next steps.
Advice and support
Any student who is worried they may have been targeted by a scam, or who has already been affected, can contact the SRC Advice Centre for free, confidential, and independent advice. The team can help students understand what’s happened, explore their options, and access appropriate University and external support where needed.
