The Student Teaching Awards (STAs), organised by the Glasgow University Students’ Representative Council (SRC), took place on Friday 27 March 2026 in Bute Hall. 

The awards celebrate the outstanding contribution of teaching and support staff across the University, recognising those who have made a meaningful impact on students’ learning and experience. This year saw a high number of nominations from students across all Colleges. 

 A panel of elected student representatives shortlisted nominees for each category, with winners selected based on both the quality and quantity of nominations submitted. 

 

This year’s award winners were: 

  • Dr Paula Redondo Juárez – Best College Teacher (Arts & Humanities)  
  • Dr Anupam Singh – Best College Teacher (Social Sciences) 
  • Dr Sean McGinty – Best College Teacher (Science & Engineering) 
  • Dr Emma Foggo – Best College Teacher (MVLS)  
  • Dr Ourania Varsou – Best Advisor of Studies 
  • Dr Susan Lindsay – Best Dissertation Supervisor 
  • Dr Wilhemiina Toivo – Best Feedback 
  • Mr Elliot Napier – Best Graduate Teaching Assistant 
  • Professor Bonnie Slade – Best Practice in Inclusive Education 
  • Miss Louise Walker – Best Support Staff 
  • Professor Qammer H. Abbasi – Best Research Supervisor 
  • Dr Vladimir Maltsev – Highly Innovative Teaching 
  • Mrs Fionnuala Johnson – Outstanding Contribution to Teaching 
  • Hannah McIntyre – Best Student Representative
