The University Change Development Pathway
People & OD have introduced a Change Development Pathway, which recognises that managing and navigating change has become a constant requirement for everyone in the University community. Whether it’s responding to developments across the sector, enhancing our approaches to learning and teaching, or improving our systems and processes across the institution, change has become part of daily University life.
The Change Development Pathway aims to provide support for staff at all stages, from those curious to learn more about change, to those already leading and managing it.
There are four levels which colleagues can access.

Feedback on Change Foundations and Change Champion
"I decided to attend the pilot courses because I wanted to support colleagues through change with deeper engagement and understand how I can better enable smoother transitions. In my role, I work with colleagues across the organisation on projects that often involve process improvements and service changes. These courses were a great opportunity to build skills that help me guide others effectively and contribute to successful outcomes.
Both courses were well-structured and practical, and they provided hands-on tools and techniques for influencing and supporting change. The combination of interactive content and a knowledgeable group of attendees made the learning experience even more valuable. Change comes in different shapes and sizes, and its success depends on how we manage it. As an organisation, we need to communicate change more effectively with both staff and students and provide the right support throughout the transition.
My biggest takeaway from the Change Champion course was the need for an active network of Change Champions across the organisation. They play a critical role in supporting change and acting as a bridge between senior leadership, staff, and students. Having engaged champions ensures that communication flows effectively and that colleagues feel supported throughout transitions.
I’d recommend the development pathway to anyone, regardless of their role, because the University is an ever-evolving organization. These programmes are crucial for becoming agile, adaptable, and ready to embrace change - and even contribute to it. They provide practical tools and insights that help staff at all levels navigate transitions confidently and support others through change."
