Research summary
Yujia (Flavia) Jin (she/her) is a PhD student in Comparative Literature at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, University of Glasgow. She received her MA in Literary and Comparative Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University. Her thesis, "Scripting the Italian Renaissance on the Small Screen, " examines the representation of the Italian Renaissance across television and video games, with a particular focus on The Borgias, Medici, and the Assassin’s Creed series. Her research engages with historiography, transmedia storytelling, and game studies, developing the concept of “scripting” to analyse how historical narratives are shaped across media forms. She has published on historioludicity and historical games, and her current work explores intellectual fanservice, affect, and the role of cultural heritage in contemporary screen media.
