OUR VALUES

Meet Your Vets

Elisabeth Lyon

Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

Lissy qualified as an RVN in 2016, a large part of her training involved placement at the Small Animal Hospital and she knew one day she would like to return. Her first 6 years were spent in a lovely local vet practice, where she developed an interest in inpatient care and anaesthesia and went on to complete a certificate in emergency and critical care. When the opportunity arose to join the Small Animal Hospital and be involved with the Hospitals first ever first opinion service, she jumped at the chance.

The team at the Pet Practice are wonderful and it has been a fantastic and unique learning experience to help the practice grow from an initial handful of clients to where we are today as a busy first opinion Practice. She loves the opportunity to support students with their training, while still being able to provide a high level of patient and customer care.

When not in work, Lissy enjoys the outdoor life,  normally found adventuring with her cockapoo Marty or submerged in a cold body of water somewhere....finding any excuse for a dook.

Vanessa Campos

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Vanessa qualified in 2015 in Portugal and since her graduation, she has worked in Spain and Portugal. She moved to Scotland in 2019 and fell in love with the country and its culture.

Vanessa joined our practice in 2023 to be able to develop her passion for teaching and helping vet and vet nurse students achieve their goals and ensure they have all the support they need.

Vanessa also has a keen interest in exotics and small mammals.
In her spare time, she enjoys baking, listening to music and walking in the beach.

Rebecca Owler

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Rebecca qualified from SRUC Oatridge in 2017.  During her training she spent time in the small animal hospital which she really enjoyed but loves the variety of general practice, especially surgery and anaesthesia. She has been a clinical coach for over 5 years,  which involves teaching the next generation of veterinary nurses. When the opportunity came up to join the growing team at the Pet Practice, supporting final year vet students rotate through first opinion general practice, it sounded like an amazing experience for her.

In her spare time Rebecca enjoys exploring new walks and discovering beaches of Scotland with her Dalmatian Nevis who is always getting up to mischief. She also enjoys paddle boarding and watching the rugby.

Rachel McDougall

Veterinary Care Assistant

Rachel qualified as a Veterinary Care Assistant in 2016 and joined the Pet Practice in 2022. Rachel enjoys working in all areas of the practice including getting to meet and care for all of the patients. In her spare time Rachel enjoys going on long walks with her dog Milo.

Tanya Valerio

You’ll usually see Tanya behind the desk when you arrive at the Pet Practice, or speak to her on the phone if you call us (you'll recognise the Alabama drawl!).  She is the Pet Practice’s Cat Advocate and self-proclaimed Crazy Cat Lady (and also part of the Bearsden-based cat rescue and rehoming charity CATFLAP), but your pets - of any species - are ** all ** her favourites!

Tanya is from a human medical-research background; she fell in love with the veterinary/animal rescue world when she moved to Glasgow and has been fortunate to have been able to make a career change to doing something that she loves.

She is currently slave to owned by two cats, Duncan and Flynne.

Stacy Callaghan

Stacy has been with the University of Glasgow Pet Practice as a Receptionist from the very beginning. she has two tiny dogs of her own who you may find commandeering her knee at the reception desk from time to time. Stacy has a background in accounts, customer services and studied music management at college, as well as science. she is also a fully qualified dog groomer. She has an interest in animal behaviour and fear free training. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, going to the cinema, gigs and art exhibitions.

Catherine Sallah
