Entrepreneur and investment specialist, and University of Glasgow alumnus

Arujuna (Aru) Sivananthan held senior credit trading roles in London at several of the world’s leading investment banks, primarily focused on the TMT and high-yield sectors. His experience spans trading across a broad spectrum of fixed income products.
Following a ten-year career in investment banking, he founded and scaled a healthcare business serving the residential adult social care sector, growing it into a substantial operation. In parallel, he established a property business focused on residential development and is involved in the Lloyd’s insurance market through a company acting as a corporate member underwriting insurance and reinsurance risks.
His other interests include the ownership and breeding of thoroughbred racehorses. He has several horses in training in Newmarket, with broodmares boarded at the National Stud, and is involved in trading bloodstock.
He is an alumnus of the University of Glasgow, where he completed both an MSc and a PhD in Economics. His doctoral research focused on stochastic optimal control and was jointly supervised by the Economics and Mathematics departments. Drawing on first-hand experience of cross-disciplinary research, he is a strong advocate for hybrid degrees and research programmes that span traditional academic boundaries.
