Miss Julie Ainslie

Biography

 

Julie Ainslie is a Teacher Associate at the Centre for Teaching Excellence. She has over 20 years’ experience as a secondary school teacher, beginning her career as a Design and Technology teacher and more recently serving as a Principal Teacher of Support for Learning within Glasgow City Council.

Julie has had significant senior leadership experience, including several years as an Associate Depute Headteacher and undertaking Acting Depute Headteacher roles. She completed a BTech (Hons) degree at the University of Glasgow and has subsequently achieved a number of postgraduate qualifications at PGCert and PGDip level throughout her career.

She is currently undertaking an MPhil (Res) at the University of Glasgow, with a research focus on the adequacy of Additional Support Needs (ASN) continuing professional development provision for mainstream secondary teachers. Her research interests include inclusion, Universal Design for Learning, equity, professional learning related to inclusive practice, teacher wellbeing, research pratctice partnerships and practitioner enquiry.

Julie is also qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and group work.

Research interests

Julie’s research interests include inclusive practice, Universal Design for Learning, teacher wellbeing, differentiation, strategies to support mental health and wellbeing, practitioner enquiry, research practice partnerships, equity, and the identification and removal of barriers to learning for all learners.
