Michalis Constantinides (PhD UCL, MSc, MA, QTS, BSc) is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Educational Leadership and Management at the School of Education and programme director for the MEd Educational Leadership. He contributes to the School of Education’s strategic and operational development as the International Regional Champion for the Americas (North), working closely with the internationalisation team to lead student recruitment and exchange programmes, and to support partnership development with universities and government departments across the globe.
His research, teaching, and outreach focus on the organisation and management of education systems, with a focus on collaborative approaches to address complex problems of practice. His teaching and research expertise also lie in the field of educational change and improvement and the social and policy contexts of leading education at both institutional and systemic levels.
He is particularly interested in how educational leaders can navigate complex systems and drive positive change and how innovations in school collaboration can significantly enhance educational outcomes and foster a more supportive learning environment.
He contributes academic insights that inform curriculum design, policy development, and professional learning across multiple education systems, and these have been used in professional development programmes for teachers and school leaders in Scotland, England, and New Zealand. He has also worked directly with government officials to help shape leadership pathways and strengthen system‑wide capacity.
He has delivered invited talks and presentations to doctoral students and early career researchers as part of EU‑funded projects, and has contributed to the global design team developing an international MOOC series on educational transformation and innovation, serving as an invited speaker and guest instructor.
Michalis is one of the co-convenors of the educational leadership network at the European Educational Research Association and is an active member of international professional networks (e.g., International Successful School Principalship Project, AERA Improvement Science in Education SIG) focused on advancing research, policy, and practice in educational leadership and system improvement.
