Biography
Magda Gamrat – Deputy Head of Professional Services, School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow
I’m a people-focused professional with over 15 years’ experience in higher education and financial services. I hold a Chartered Insurance Institute Certificate in Insurance, a postgraduate diploma in IT with E-Business, an HNC in Accounting, and a Master of Arts. I have also completed CPD courses in Change Management, Managing People, and participated in the Aurora Leadership Programme for women in higher education (2024).
A native Polish speaker living in the UK for over 20 years, I bring a strong local understanding, a global perspective, and a committed work ethic to my role. I thrive on challenges, enjoy navigating new situations, and am passionate about empowering teams to perform at their best.
As Deputy Head of Professional Services at the School of Health and Wellbeing, I provide strategic advice to the Head of Professional Services and Head of School, oversee financial planning, and lead operational and process improvement initiatives across the School. I am a member of the Athena SWAN Professional Services Group, co-lead the Health and Safety Committee, and actively contribute to the UK-wide SUMS Change Community, sharing and learning best practices in collaboration, efficiency, and positive change.
In 2025, I was awarded the Robbie Ewan Fellowship, visiting Finnish universities to explore student wellbeing and inclusion. I brought back practical ideas that I implemented at SHW, including interactive wellbeing initiatives, a knitting corner, and a sensory room to support staff and student mental health.
