Abstract

Perverse schobers are categorified analogues of perverse sheaves, encoding monodromy phenomena at the level of triangulated categories. In this talk, I will begin by reviewing the classical description of perverse sheaves in terms of nearby and vanishing cycles, and explain how this leads naturally to the notion of an H- schober. I will then discuss a noncommutative approach to constructing H- schobers associated to flops, beginning with the classical Atiyah flop and proceeding to the case of cA_2 singularities.
