Stability conditions on Calabi-Yau 3-folds

Abstract

I will discuss a recent advance on the existence of stability conditions on smooth projective varieties, which had been a long-standing problem. For a Calabi-Yau 3-fold, we are able to relate the existence of a particular type of stability conditions with the Brill-Noether theory of higher rank vector bundles on a curve inside the 3-fold. This is based on a joint work with Feyzbakhsh, Liu, and Rekuski.
