Biography
Nora O Murchu is an academic Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry with extensive experience in the provision of specialist oral healthcare for children and adolescents, including those with complex medical, developmental and behavioural needs. She is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across hospital and community settings.
She graduated with Honours from Queen's University Belfast in 2008 and completed her Consultant training in Glasgow in 2017. In the same year, she completed a Masters by Research evaluating the provision of prevention within an exodontia pathway of care, reflecting her strong interest in improving preventive strategies for children at risk of dental disease.
Following completion of training, she worked for six years as an academic Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry in Belfast, contributing to both clinical service delivery and dental education. She has since returned to Scotland to take up a substantive academic post at the University of Glasgow, where she is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical supervision.
Dr O Murchu continues to embed her research findings within her clinical practice and is a strong advocate for prevention and multi-agency working to improve oral health outcomes for children and young people. Her other professional interests include the management of dental anxiety, dental trauma, trauma-informed care, and minimally invasive paediatric dentistry.
