Published: 6 March 2026
Researchers Valentina Orioli and Martina Massari from the University of Bologna visited UofG in late January to explore shared research priorities, mobility opportunities, and deepen collaboration with the Civic Imaginary project.
From Dr Michael Howcroft
Valentina Orioli and Martina Massari from the Department of Architecture at the University of Bologna visited UofG and the division of Urban Studies and Social Policy between 24-30 January. Sponsored by Glasgow's Global Partnership Fund and hosted by the Civic Imaginary Partnerships project and the Urban Transformations and Transitions cluster, Valentina and Martina took part in two workshops to explore shared research agendas and mobility opportunities. They also contributed to a well-attended public seminar in the ARC on the topic of urban intermediaries, involving colleagues and students from across UofG colleges as well as Glasgow-based and U.K collaborators. This incoming visit supports the development of a long-term research collaboration between the Civic Imaginary project and Italian partners, and lays some foundations for wider research and scholarship collaborations and mobility, led by Michael Howcroft.
