On Monday 23 March 2026, the Students' Representative Council (SRC), in partnership with the Glasgow University Union (GUU), hosted the University’s first International Festival – a full day celebration of the diverse student community.

The event brought together over 30 international and cultural societies and welcomed hundreds of students across the day, with a programme including a society fair, performances, activities and a global food experience ‘Around the World in 80 Bites’.

Festival Attendee – 'It allows people to find a sense of belonging, to see the inclusivity of their culture – and for others to explore different culturesIt’s like bringing the whole world to one table.'

Students highlighted the importance of events like this in creating opportunities to connect, explore new cultures, and take a break from academic pressures, with many describing the day as a vibrant reflection of the University’s diversity.
