Library Annexe Closures: February – September 2026
Published: 9 February 2026
To allow us to complete those upgrades safely, Annexes on Levels 6-9 will close temporarily over the coming months, and books stored in those areas will be removed from the floors and held off-site until they reopen.

The Library Annexe Upgrade Project is moving into the next phase, which will involve internal upgrades to study spaces in the Annexes, including:
- Improved heating, cooling and ventilation
- Modernised lighting
- Power for all desks
- Wider aisles and lower shelves for better accessibility
- Enhanced energy efficiency and sustainability
To allow us to complete those upgrades safely, Annexes on Levels 6-9 will close temporarily over the coming months, and books stored in those areas will be removed from the floors and held off-site until they reopen.

Accessing materials stored in the Annexes
Some of the books and other materials stored in the Annexes are available as digital versions or e-books. You can search our digital collection from the Library Search bar on the UofG Library homepage.
If you need any books stored in the Annexes that are not available digitally, we can help you to borrow them before the Annexe closes. We will extend loan periods as necessary and we can arrange for you to borrow more books than the usual limits if required. We will also offer a Click and Collect service to fetch batches of books for you ahead of the closures.
During the closure
If you need access to a relocated book during the closure period, we will do our best to either source a digital copy or borrow a print copy from another Library via InterLibrary Loan.
If you need any help, please contact the Reach Out Library team.
