Research summary
Work that takes a Bernsteinian perspective to the achievement of teacher agency within the translation and recontextualisation of citizenship policy from the macro to the meso/micro. Using ideas of the pedagogic device as well as ecological understandings of teacher agency, this work investigates the spaces that exist for agency as an emergent phenomenanon and how environmental factors can either promote or hinder that agency.
