Research title: Engineering Crops to Extend Growing Seasons

Research summary

Chantal Sharples is a PhD candidate in the Jones Lab, where she studies how plants perceive and respond to environmental cues. Her research is centered on the molecular mechanisms underlying temperature and light perception in plants, focusing on Arabidopsis thaliana and coriander. By investigating these processes, Chantal aims to better understand how plants adapt to changing environments, with potential applications in agriculture and climate resilience.

Previously, Chantal obtained a B.Sc in Biology and and a M.Sc. in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of Bielefeld, Germany.
