Research title: Infectious Disease Diagnostic Testing in Community Settings
Research summary
Research interests
- High-risk human pamiliomaviruses (HR-HPV)
- Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP)
- Point-of-care diagnostic testing in low-resource settings
Current research
- I aim to design a point-of-care diagnostic device that delivers a highly sensitive and specific disease diagnosis for human papillomaviruses (HPV), using innovative nucleic-acid-based testing.
- The device would be a low-cost, paper-based microfluidic assay, for use within low-resource communities. The device will carry out the diagnostic test at the point-of-care, eliminating the need for centralised laboratory facilities.
- I will be working with industry partner Global Access Health to ensure the diagnostic device can be manufactured cheaply and at scale, in the locations that they are most needed.
