Research title: Take-Over Request Design for Older Drivers in Level 3 Automated Vehicles: An Investigation of Non-Driving Task Demand, Cultural Context, and Age
Research summary
My research will focus on partnering older drivers with semi-autonomous driving technology. Using a driving simulator, I will look at measuring basic driving performance such as steering, gaze and responses to distractors, in order to build a good model for older drivers’ behaviour under different driving scenarios. I will investigate how the car could work with the older driver, augmenting and enhancing their spatial and cognitive abilities, and thus providing support rather than increased distraction/complication.
