Research title: Traditional values’ activism and politics in Kazakhstan through a geopolitical and transnational lens
Research summary
My research focuses on Russia’s promotion of ‘traditional values’ and the geopolitics of gender and sexuality in Central Asia. It aims to shed light on how Russia’s anti-gender discourse is used as a tool to exert influence in neighboring regions, and how local actors navigate and contest these dynamics.
The research is funded by the Europe-Asia Studies scholarhip.
