Research title: Engineering internal and external environment to improve performance in controlled environment agriculture
Research summary
Vertical farming is an innovative indoor crop production system that offers controlled environmental conditions to optimize plant growth. However, artificial lighting used in vertical farms consumes significant amounts of electricity, which increases the cost of production. Therefore, this research focuses on the role and the potential benefits of green light in improving plant growth and development in controlled environment. To further understand how plants react to lights, the investigation of constitutively active photoreceptors, and the exploration of unknown green light sensors in plants will also be performed. The study aims to enhance the understanding of plant responses to light and provide insights into improving crop production in vertical farming systems.
