GALLANT Gathering Programme 2026

As we approach the end of GALLANT, our 2026 Gathering will provide an opportunity to celebrate successes, share impact and build project legacy. The event will bring together GALLANT researchers and existing partners, as well as providing an opportunity to share our evidence and learning with wider local, national and international audiences.

Programme Dates

Spread over three days the Gathering is themed around three areas impact:

Monday 9th November 2026 - Regional Impact and Community Partnerships

We will explore our place-based and community led research.

Tuesday 10th November 2026 - International Impact and Engagement

We will convey GALLANT findings and messages as a key part of global discussion around “whole-system solutions to climate and environmental challenges”.

Wednesday 11th November 2026 - Research Impact and Building on Success

We will share research outcomes and best practice, embed systems approaches among researchers, and identify priority areas for future research.

Delegates are welcome to register for one day, two days or all three days of the GALLANT Gathering 2026.

Programme Activities

The GALLANT Gathering programme activities, currently being planned, include 2 walking tours. The Thriving Glasgow walking tour around Glasgow City Centre will showcase how the city and businesses within the city are moving to more sustainable practices that follow Doughnut Economics practices.

The nature connectedness walking tour along the River Kelvin will provide an accessible, reflective way to engage with urban green spaces and invite participants to share their own experiences of local green spaces on communiMap, a community science app developed by the GALLANT project. See information about Community Collaboration and previous Friends of the River Kelvin and GALLANT walks.

We are delighted to be hosting a lecture and drinks evening with Professor Kate Raworth from the University of Oxford on Doughnut Economics. Professor Kate Raworth is the co-founder of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab, the creator of the Doughnut Economics model and the author of the bestselling book “Doughnut Economics: seven ways to think like a 21st century economist”.

Doughnut Economics

The Doughnut of Social and Planetary Boundaries (the Doughnut) offers a visual monitor of progress towards the goal of meeting people's needs within the living planet to create a sustainable economy. It consists of two rings: a social foundation of life's essentials and an ecological ceiling. In the middle is a space where humanity can thrive. The Doughnut is the main concept of Doughnut Economics. This year GALLANT will be co-locating with the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) which puts the ideas of Doughnut Economics into practice. The DEAL Annual Gathering is on Wednesday 11 November 2026 - Thursday 12 November 2026, by invitation only.

GALLANT delegates attended the previous DEAL Annual Gathering in Tomelilla 2025 to discuss how Glasgow is implementing the Thriving Definitions using the Thriving Glasgow Portrait.

For more information about the above topics, register for the GALLANT Gathering and attend the sessions!
