InFrame at SRHE: Strengthening Collegiality in Research

At the Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE) Conference, members of the InFrame team delivered a well‑attended symposium, How can we increase collegiality in research? Revealing hidden structures, cultures and networks. Aligned with the conference theme of compassion, collegiality, and community, the session explored how collegiality can be strengthened across the research ecosystem.

Institutional Reseach Culture Community (IRCC) Belfast Regional event (27 November 2025)

InFrame attended the IRCC Belfast Regional event hosted by Studio Susegad, which brought together colleagues from across the UK and Ireland working on research culture. The event created space for open discussion about how research culture is experienced in practice, with a strong focus on connection, care, and collegiality. InFrame shared emerging work on understanding and evidencing the relational dimensions of culture, highlighting the importance of relationships, networks & collaboration.

SERA Conference 2025

Members of the InFrame team attended the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA) Conference 2025 in Aberdeen, engaging with discussions on education, leadership, policy, and research culture. The conference explored how values such as trust, belonging, autonomy, and care shape educational environments, alongside timely questions about assessment and the implications of generative AI in higher education.

Impact Ignite 2025 Conference: Giving voice to communities to co‑create research culture change

At Impact Ignite 2025, Lisa Backwell shared early insights from the analysis of Culture Catalyst Fund applications, exploring how research communities understand and practise collegial leadership. Conversations with impact professionals reinforced a key finding: although engagement and relationship‑building are central to research impact, this work is often undervalued within existing recognition and reward systems.
